LBT women’s issues on the agenda of organisations working on women/gender issues

On July 23rd Women’s Initiatives Supporting Group held the presentation of the research concerning LBT women’s issues on the agenda of international organizations, organizations working on LGBT issues, research institutes and funds. Event was hosted by the South Caucasus Regional Office of the Heinrich Boell Foundation.
Situation of LGBT persons in Georgia

In April 2012 Women’s Initiatives Supporting Group (WISG) conducted LGBT discrimination study in which 150 members of LGB community took part. The aim of the research was to study the social environment, in which, the members of the above mentioned community live.

On 31 March 2010 the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe adopted its Recommendation to member states “on measures to combat discrimination on grounds of sexual orientation or gender identity” – CM/REC(2010)5. The Recommendation is the world’s first international legal instrument dealing specifically with discrimination on these grounds.
Lesbians’ health: myths and realities

„Women’s Initiatives Supporting Group” (WISG) published the leaflet concerning LB women’s health: „Lesbians’ health: myths and realities ». The leaflet was prepared by ILGA’s women’s secretariat (International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex Association) and MWA(Minority Women in Action).

Sexual and Self-destructive behavior study among LBT group

“Women’s Initiatives Supporting Group” has finished the research that aimed to study peculiarities of sexual behavior in target group, access and demand for healthcare services among LBT group, coming-out experience and factors influencing the process of coming-out; self-destructive behavior and its possible correlations with self esteem of LBT members.
